
Bulk Desiccant for Stored Product
Moisture damage to stored inventory is a shrink line item
If you warehouse, crate, or hold product for any length of time, humidity is quietly writing off some of it — corrosion on metal parts, mold on textiles and packaging, delamination, spotting, and the returns that follow. It rarely shows up as a line item because it gets recorded as damage, not as a moisture problem.
Sta-Dri supplies bulk montmorillonite clay desiccant for exactly this: keeping moisture away from product that is stored, staged, crated or shipped. We're a US manufacturer, the clay is mined in the American Southwest, and packaging is done in the USA.

The common thread is enclosed storage — a crate, case, carton, container, bin or wrapped pallet. Sta-Dri treats the air inside a sealed space. It is not a warehouse dehumidifier and won't condition an open building.
Why clay rather than calcium chloride
The failure mode that matters for stored product is the desiccant damaging the thing it was supposed to protect.
- Non-corrosive. Sta-Dri contains no calcium chloride. There is no brine to form, so nothing to leak onto goods, packaging or crate interiors.
- Solid fill, not gel or salt. Nothing pools if a pouch is crushed in transit.
- Safe in direct contact with metal, leather, textiles, paper and finished surfaces.
- Non-toxic and non-flammable, with no additives — relevant for shared storage and mixed freight.
- Exceeds U.S. military storage specifications. The specification defines a desiccant unit as absorbing at least 3 grams of water vapour at 20% RH and 6 grams at 40% RH; a unit of Sta-Dri is one ounce (28.35 grams).
- Rechargeable in a conventional oven for up to three cycles — and spent packs need no special disposal. The fill is mined clay with no additives, so spent desiccant is not a hazardous-waste line item.

Sizing at volume
Specify by enclosed volume: 1 pound per 13.3 cubic feet of sealed space. For crating and container work it's usually easier to work in desiccant units against the air volume and the expected transit or dwell time.
